V-Day

17 Feb

V-day should be everyday, make sure you tell and show the people you love just how you feel everyday, it can be as simple as a phone call to see how their day is going, to a simple “thank you”. Btw, here is my handmade Valentine for my sweetie, he really liked it :)

the Met

16 Feb

So we made a trip to the Met today and passing through the Modern Art section I came upon Georgia O’Keefe’s stuff and was excited to see a painting that I find so simple yet the more I look at it the more I can get lost in its depth, the Black Iris. There was also one with the blue sky seen through an animal skull, pretty grim yet I couldn’t stop looking at it…the colors just pop out at you.

V- Day

11 Feb

Ahhh it’s that time of the year where flowers are over-priced and going out to dinner includes bad service and  noisy diners. But putting my cynic aside, the optimist in me says Valentine’s day can be all hearts and hugs and kisses. My bf Edward and I were talking over where to go for V-day? Mind you, we’re are celebrating it on Monday since we are off that day and I’m pretty sure everyone else not at work might be doing the same! Our plan for the day so far is: Have brunch, hop on the train to NYC and check out the MET, then get lunch, don’t know where yet.  On Thursday the 18th, we are  hitting up Broadway for In the Heights, (can’t wait!) oh and before the show we are dining at a fancy romantic spot, that is to be announced as well. Any ideas for where to go in NYC? restaurants? dessert cafes?  It will be Restaurant Week in the city too, yumm! Make your reservations!

Summer get here asap please!

With up to a foot of snow forecasted starting tonight, I think it might actually happen. Please pray and keep your fingers crossed for a snow day, NO work tomorrow pleaseeeeeeeeee!

What is my blog about?

4 Feb

So why am I blogging? I’m going to post as often as I can and at some point narrow down by random blogs to something more concrete, or not, we will see….so it’s Wed. and so far, work is getting more and more interesting. I have secured a deal with Ecuador. what does this mean? Well I work with colleges, higher learning centers in Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, and Chile. I was working on Mexico but that has been taken over by other Account managers hired in Mexico. I’ve been a “manager” for about 5 months now…and I’ve been to Lima and Mexico City already! first of all, growing up in the US, it’s amazing how little I know about Latin America in general, its history especially. Overall, an american education does not inform you of the rest of the world, just Europe and the US. as if that is all there is!!

Anyway, I digress. So i’ve been making deals, no, more like signing up these countries and managing conversations with them…and I don’t have a full grasp on who they are, what they do, how the country’s education system works. Now with Ecuador, what do I know about Ecuador. very little. So my first step is to learn learn and feed myself the history and culture of these countries. Only then can I start taking the small steps to know who the people are and at least make intelligent conversation if and when I visit these countries.

Hello world!
