Movies to Watch

UP IN THE AIR

Watch it! Mostly everyone can relate to getting laid off or fired, but it goes deeper… it’s funny, uplifting, poignant, George Clooney and Anna Kendrick give great performances.

THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE

So I can’t say I’m an avid reader of Vogue, but I love fashion and stay up to date on the latest fashion trends. I would consider my sense of style as less is more yet I love bold colors and funky pieces. A great pair of jeans paired with heels, sandals, or boots and a sexy halter top or fitted sweater are staples for me. Through this documentary, you get a sneak peek at the inner day to day happenings at the Vogue offices,  the documentary focuses on the hectic and dramatic preparations for the biggest issue each year, the September issue. Everyone involved is super passionate about what they do. Interviews with Anna Wintour reveal that she takes her job quite seriously yet she is quite alone in her fashion world as her family does not share her perspective. They are heavily involved in activism and social service, even Wintour’s daughter talks about how she finds the fashion world amusing, turning down the chance to possibly rule the fashion world to become a lawyer instead. Indeed, at least for me, the fashion industry is a world of fantasy where the rules of everyday life don’t apply, you can be as creative and expressive as you want to, yet the major players, such as Wintour, have the power to make or break you. Watch it.
